Snooker

Whether you are a beginner that wants to get their hands on one of top of the range cues, or such a professional that you will only play on the best snooker table surfaces available, Rileys is for you!

Our tables attract players of all abilities, so beginners might learn a thing or two from more experienced players or our team!

It’s a game that may take a little while to master but it won’t take long for you to get hooked.

How to play

SET UP

Choose a cue (that’s the stick thing), chalk it up, and get your table ready by following the diagram above.

MAKE A BREAK

The first player places the white ball in the D and takes aim at the reds. If a red goes in, they get another go, if it doesn’t then it’s time for your opponent to step up.

POT LUCK

If you pot a red ball, that’s a point. Leave it in the pocket and now try and pot a colour ball. Get the colour ball in and you get more points (dependent on the colour of the ball) and another go. Don’t forget to put the colour ball back on its original spot before your next shot.

147 MAX

Points are then built up by potting a red followed by a colour. Fail to pot and it’s your competitor’s turn. Keep going until all the balls on the table are cleared (don’t forget that when all 15 reds have been potted, the colours must then be potted in order of value – lowest first.) Whoever has most points at the end is the winner.

What's the point?

Pride? An enormous sense of achievement? Bragging rights? Actually, each coloured ball has its own value from 1 (the red) to 7 (the black ball.)

The maximum points you can score is 147 which is when you, in one of your turns, pot red, then black, then red, then black until all the reds are gone. It’s then just a matter of clearing the table of all the other balls in the right order. Simple!

1 point = Red
2 points = Yellow
3 points = Green
4 points = Brown
5 points = Blue
6 points = Pink
7 points = Black
