Shuffleboard

Unleash Your Competitive Spirit with Shuffleboard at Rileys Sports Club: Test Your Precision and Courage!

New to shuffleboard? Think of it as table-top bowls or mini curling without the ice.

A game of skill and precision that’s all about holding your nerve and pushing limits.

Play one on one, or as doubles, where who dares wins and winner takes all – the bragging rights.

How to play

YOU’LL NEED:

2-4 players, a table (we have the smoothest in town), 4 pucks and nerves of steel

Decide who goes first, then players take it in turns to try and slide their pucks into the scoring zones on the table.

IN THE ZONE

There are three scoring zones imaginatively labelled 1-2-3 where your puck can score (yes you guessed it) 1 – 2 or 3 points. Or confusingly 4, but we’ll come to that later (Rules & Foul Play).

The higher the scoring zone the further away it is from the player and closer it is to the non- scoring ‘gutter’.

WHEN PUSH COMES TO SHOVE

After each player, or pair, slides or ‘shuffles’ their 4 pucks, the team with the furthest puck still on the table wins the round.

Only one team scores in each round – scoring with their winning puck and any other pucks in more advanced positions than their opponent’s closet puck.

WINNER

Games consist of as many rounds as needed, with the winner being the first to 15 points (by 2 clear points).

Rules & Foul play

No touching the playing surface – only the frame of the table with your free hand.

Keep one foot behind the table and the other behind the ‘deuce’ or 2nd line.

Any puck not crossing the first line and fully entering zone 1 is a ‘foul’ and disqualified.

A puck must completely cross a scoring zone line to be awarded the higher point value.

If any part of a puck crosses the furthest scoring zone line of zone 3 but remains on the table – this is called a ‘hanger’ and worth 4 points.
